The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) introduced Nodal Operating Guide Revision Request (NOGRR) 245, effective October 1, 2024, to bolster the stability and reliability of the Texas power grid. This revision updates voltage and frequency ride-through requirements for Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) and Type 1 and Type 2 Wind-powered Generation Resources (WGRs), aligning them with the IEEE 2800-2022 standard. The changes aim to ensure that these resources can better withstand and respond to grid disturbances, thereby enhancing overall grid resilience. While some provisions took immediate effect, others are phased in as resources implement necessary upgrades. ERCOT is developing a process to collect data associated with these new requirements and will provide further details as they become available https://www.ercot.com/mktrules/issues/NOGRR245?utm_source=chatgpt.com
